How it works

Four steps. About two minutes of your time.

That is the whole deal. You send one bill, we do the rest, and you see every price we get back before you decide anything.

We are paid by the energy retailer when you switch, never by you.

The Smarta Switch, step by step

  1. Find your renewal date

Most businesses do not know it. It is the most expensive thing they do not know. It is the single most expensive thing most businesses do not know. Miss it and you roll onto whatever your retailer decides, which is never their sharp price.

    • Send us one recent bill, a photo or the PDF, whichever is quicker. That is about two minutes of your time and it is the only homework you get.
    • We read it the same day and pull out your meter number, your rates, your usage and, if it is printed, your contract end date.
    • Plenty of bills do not print that date. If yours does not, we ring your retailer and get it, so you are not guessing.
  2. See better prices

We put your load to the retailers who can price it, and show you every offer we get back. We put your load in front of select, trusted retailers who believe in fair pricing and honest account management, all on the same terms, on the same day, with the same deadline.

    • You sign a one-page Letter of Authority first. It lets us ask retailers for prices on your behalf and nothing else. You can revoke it any time with one email.
    • Every retailer gets the identical pack, so what comes back compares like for like instead of being three different shapes you cannot line up.
    • For a bigger site we will also ask your current retailer for your actual meter data. It usually takes them about a day, and it makes the prices sharper because the retailer is quoting your real usage rather than an estimate.
  3. Switch

You pick one, we handle the paperwork, the transfer and the closing reads. Every price we get back, in one place, ranked, with our commission printed on each one.

    • You see rate, term, supply charge, start date and what it costs you across a year. Not a recommendation dressed up as a comparison.
    • You see exactly what we get paid on each offer, in cents per kWh. It is different for every retailer, and it is on screen before you decide anything.
    • You pick. We never sign a retailer contract on your behalf, and you get 10 business days of cooling off on any commercial contract under the NERR.
  4. We manage it

Your renewal date goes on the clock and we come back to you ninety days out, not after it rolls. The switch itself is admin, and it is ours, not yours.

    • We handle the transfer paperwork and the closing reads with both retailers. Your power never goes off, it is the same wires and the same meter, just a different name on the bill.
    • The changeover happens at your next scheduled meter read, so from signing to being live on the new plan is usually two to four weeks.
    • Then your renewal date goes on the clock and we come back to you about 90 days out, before it rolls, not after.
While all that happens

You can watch it, instead of chasing us.

Every customer gets a portal. Your sites, your renewal countdown, every offer that comes back ranked cheapest first, and our commission printed on each one. Sign in with a code we email you, so there is no password to forget, lose or have stolen.

What you are NOT signing up for

The "no surprises" promise.

The Letter of Authority is one page. It says exactly what we can and cannot do on your behalf. To save you reading the small print, here is what it does not authorise:

Signing contracts for you

We cannot and will not sign a retailer contract on your behalf. Every contract decision is yours alone, with your signature.

Charging you fees

We do not charge you. Ever. We are paid by the energy retailer when you switch, and you see exactly how much on every offer.

Locking you in

You can revoke the LoA at any time in writing. One email to hello@smartaswitch.com.au and we stop.

Common questions

The bits people ask before they pick up the phone.

How long does the whole thing take?
From sending us your bill to having offers in front of you is usually a few days. From choosing one to being live on the new plan is another two to four weeks, because the changeover happens at your next scheduled meter read. All in, about three to six weeks, and almost none of it needs you.
Will my power get cut off?
No. The physical supply never stops. Only the billing relationship moves to the new retailer. Same wires, same meter, new name on the bill.
What if I change my mind?
You have 10 business days of cooling off on any commercial retail contract under the NERR. We do not pressure you in that window. If you decide it is not right, you walk away.
What does it cost?
Nothing. We are paid by the energy retailer when you switch, never by you. The commission is built into your contract pricing, it differs by retailer, and we show you the exact number on every offer before you choose.
Do I have to switch?
No. If nothing beats what you are already on, we will tell you that and you stay put. We would rather keep you on the books for the next renewal than talk you into a switch that does not pay.

Two minutes today. Probably hundreds saved next month.

No commitment, no pressure. Just a clear comparison of what you could be paying instead.
